Mimi Drake, president of Permit Capital Advisors, has been elected as chair of the 100 Women in Hedge Funds (100WHF) Global Board. Sandra Urie, chairman and CEO of Cambridge Associates has also been elected to the Global Board, as vice chair.
Prior to working for Permit Capital Advisors, Drake served as the chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Defiance Asset Management, LLC, where she was responsible for several areas and served on the risk management committee. Drake started her career at Miller Anderson & Sherrerd, which merged with Morgan Stanley in 1996.
The London board, which represents European affiliates within the 100WHF global association, elected Kristen Eshak Weldon, managing director of The Blackstone Group International, as its new chair. Weldon will also represent the London board on the Global Association board. Kathryn Graham, director at BT Pension Scheme Management, will join the executive committee as London vice chair.
Weldon said: "Through serving both as London board chair and a member of our Global Board, I believe I can help 100 Women in Hedge Funds continue to coordinate its global effort and am looking forward to working with Mimi and the rest of the organisation to meet our goals.”
Effie Datson, product head of the dbSelect Platform at Deutsche Bank, the current London chair, will remain on the London Board. In addition, Diane Schrader, founder and CEO of Lionfish Capital and current chair of 100WHF’s Northern Califormia location, will be appointed to the Global Association Board.
Under the leadership of Anne Popkin and Mindy Posoff, the organisation has grown to over 10,000 members in 14 locations, with more than 60 education events being hosted around the world in just the last year alone. In addition, philanthropic fundraising in 2011, 100WHF’s 10th anniversary year, has risen to over $3.5M (including funds from Galas in New York, London and Geneva). In recent years, the organisation has also successfully ensured its long term financial stability.
