AXA names Arcilla to head funds of funds

Francisco Arcilla joins AXA Investment Managers as Global Head of AXA Funds of Hedge Funds. Based in London, Arcilla will be responsible for the overall leadership of AXA IM’s FoHF. He joins from EIM where he was Co-Head of Investments since 2008, running assets in excess of $7.5 billion for a variety of institutional investors.

AXA IM aims to deliver solutions that provide diversified returns and minimisation of downside risks via active manager selection and stringent due diligence and risk management. Arcilla has over 17 years in the industry and has built up his extensive experience and expertise of hedge fund strategies having held senior roles in a range of proprietary trading businesses. 

The AXA Funds of Hedge Funds offers investors exposure to portfolios of hedge fund managers through tailored mandates or commingled products. It holds over €4 billion in assets under management at June 2011. AXA Fund of Hedge Funds’ portfolios are constructed with the aim of optimising alpha generation, while at the same time minimising exposure to downside risk.
