Neuberger Berman launches US Small Cap Fund

11 Jul 2011
Neuberger Berman today announced the launch of the Neuberger Berman US Small Cap Fund in its Dublin-domiciled UCITS fund umbrella, the Neuberger Berman Investment Fund plc. The fund launched with assets of $60 million and was seeded by European and Asian investors, demonstrating strong investor demand for this strategy.

Dik van Lomwel, head of Neuberger Berman Europe, said: "International investor demand and the strategy's proven track record were the primary drivers for launching the US small cap equity strategy in our UCITS range. We believe the Fund will appeal to investors seeking a stable and experienced investment team with extensive knowledge of US small cap investing."

The US Small Cap Team seeks to identify growing, financially strong small cap companies that are often mispriced due to a lack of analyst research coverage coupled with investors’ obsession with short-term time horizons. As disciplined, experienced small cap investors, the team believes Wall Street’s tendency to focus on short-term earnings trends affords them opportunities to identify and invest in high-quality, growing businesses at attractive prices. The team does not typically look for hyper-growth companies as this type of growth is often unsustainable and can lead to above average stock price volatility. Instead, the managers concentrate on companies they believe can provide relatively consistent, sustainable earnings growth over the long term.

The lead portfolio managers, Judy Vale and Bob D’Alelio, are supported by two dedicated associate portfolio managers, two research analysts, a product specialist and 40 Neuberger Berman research analysts. The two lead portfolio managers each have over 30 years investing experience and have worked together for over 15 years.
