International law firm Harneys has added to its Corporate and Commercial department with the recruitment of Baker & McKenzie trained lawyer, Murray Roberts.

Roberts has a broad range of corporate experience, having advised on public company takeovers, domestic and cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and secondary equity capital raisings.

During his four years at Baker & McKenzie in both London and Hong Kong, Roberts’ experience included advising major listed and unlisted infrastructure funds on shareholder consortium arrangements, and disposals and restructurings of portfolio assets. He has also advised various FTSE-listed issuers on public company regulatory and corporate governance matters.

Roberts said he is “delighted to be joining Harneys' Corporate and Commercial department in the British Virgin Islands, particularly at this exciting time in the firm's expansion into new markets. I look forward to this great opportunity to build on the corporate experience I have gained in London and Hong Kong, and to assist Harneys in continuing to provide an excellent service to its clients."

Global Head of Corporate and Commercial, Leonard Birmingham who will supervise Murray, welcomed him to the team saying "Harneys is and has always been committed to recruiting the sort of talent that ensures that its human resource base is well equipped to efficiently deal with our clients who have come to rely on us for excellent and speedy service. Roberts, like several of our recent recruits, represents the ongoing development of that objective across our BVI, Anguilla, Cayman and Cyprus practices throughout the firm.”
