Nomura Holdings has announced the appointment of David Benson as Vice Chairman, Risk and Regulatory Affairs.
In this newly created role, Benson will be responsible for framing Nomura's regulatory and government agenda. He will also have responsibility for providing senior management with strategic advice on risk management strategy, focusing on regulatory and legislative developments.
Benson has been Nomura's Chief Risk Officer since November 2008. He has spent over 11 years with Nomura in a range of roles including European COO. Benson will remain a director of Nomura Europe Holdings plc, Nomura International plc and Nomura Capital Markets.
Lewis O'Donald has been appointed to succeed Mr. Benson as Chief Risk Officer of Nomura Holdings.
O'Donald's previous role was Senior Risk Officer for Sales and Trading at Morgan Stanley, where he spent the past 18 years in a variety of risk management and business-facing roles. O'Donald will have responsibility for establishing the firm's risk appetite, and embedding it within the bank's day-to-day activities.
