Nikko Asset Management has announced that Charlie Metcalfe has joined as President of Nikko Asset Management Europe to run the firm’s business across Europe and the Middle East, as well as oversee the US operation. The news follows Blair Pickerell’s recent appointment in Hong Kong as Head of Asia and Global Chief Marketing Officer.
As part of Nikko AM’s senior management team, Charles Beazley has moved from London to Tokyo where he is now responsible for all Nikko AM’s businesses outside Japan as well as its Japanese institutional business. Both Metcalfe and Pickerell will report to Beazley.
Metcalfe is the former Chief Executive of First State Investments, a recognized specialist manager of Asian and emerging market investments. In a 23- year career in the investment and banking world, Metcalfe has held the Deputy CEO role at Hermes Investment Management; helped build Goldman Sachs's asset management business in the UK and northern Europe, and been Managing Director of Merrill Lynch Capital Management in London. Metcalfe started his career in JP Morgan where he was an emerging markets banker for nine years, based both in New York and London.
