Lombard Odier Investment Managers continues to strengthen its hedge fund resources with the appointment of Marc Bataillon and his team from Selectium Europe. He will lead European equities from London reporting to Aziz Nahas, CIO Equities at Lombard Odier Investment Managers.
Marc Bataillon brings over 20 years of diverse business expertise and seven years in managing long/short western European equities. His deep-value approach targets mispricing coupled with catalysts. His record includes managing over $520 million, with performance from January 2004 to June 2010 of +51% (including a +9% gain in 2008) against the market’s +5% (MSCI Europe). His strategy, which has shown nil correlation to European market indices over time, has had 7.3% volatility compared to 20% for the market.
Joining Lombard Odier Investment Managers with Marc will be two team members with whom he has worked since starting Selectium: Cyril Marquaire, senior analyst, and Arnaud Mallet, the team’s risk and operations manager. Together, they bring over 29 years of experience in the hedge fund industry to the firm.

“The powerful track record that Marc and his team bring to Lombard Odier and their fundamental approach with a strong risk management culture complements what we’ve built,” Nahas said. “It further strengthens our European hedge funds expertise. Marc’s drive and ‘calling’ to manage long/short European Equities will help fuel our continued success.”

“Marc Bataillon’s team gives us more bench strength in European equity long/short,” said Hubert Keller, a Managing Partner at Lombard Odier. “This will feed into our multi strategy range and means we can also look at what single strategy products clients would welcome in this wide offering. We will take a highly selective approach; any single strategy we launch will fit a niche and will offer value not available elsewhere.”Bataillon began his career working in image processing, publishing and as an entrepreneur having built and sold Transactive Solutions, a direct marketing software firm based in Boston, to Bertelsmann. He then worked in mid-market buy-outs and founded Selectium Europe which managed long/short western European equities based on a private equity approach.
