Law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse has announced the appointment of Pierre Labuschagne who joins the firm’s Derivatives & Structured Finance Group as a Director.
Pierre specialises in exchange traded derivatives and has worked both as a private practice lawyer and as in-house counsel. Most recently, he spent ten years working in exchange traded derivatives as a Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch before setting up his own legal practice. He also advises on custody arrangements, asset protection, client money segregation and other related areas of law and is a member of the Futures and Options Association’s Legal Working Group.
Field Fisher Waterhouse’s dedicated Derivatives & Structured Finance Group has grown in recent years, most recently hiring partner Gonzalo Fernandez who joined the firm last year from Ashurst and senior associate Ben Watford who joined last month from McDermott, Will & Emery. The Group has been practising in derivatives since the early 90s and has been very active in the structured finance markets in recent years. The Group advises global investment banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, pension schemes and multinationals.

Guy Usher, Head of Derivatives & Structured Finance at Field Fisher Waterhouse, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pierre to the team. He is a strategic addition for us. We are very well known in the OTC space but we have not penetrated the exchange-traded world to the same extent. With the trend towards OTC clearing and client money issues being so high on everyone’s agenda, the timing of Pierre’s arrival could not have been better.”
