Barings adds Head of UK/Intl Institutional Sales

Baring Asset Management has announced the appointment of Andrew Benton to the role of Head of UK & International Institutional Sales and Business Development, effective immediately. Andrew is based in London and reports to George Harvey, Head of Sales, Business Development & Client Service.

Andrew is responsible for all London-based institutional sales, in particular, leading and developing the UK institutional sales activities. Currently the firm manages over £18bn of assets on behalf of its institutional client.

Andrew joins Barings from Schroders, where he was Head of UK Institutional Sales since in 2005. He was responsible for rebuilding Schroders' institutional profile within the UK and significantly growing the assets in that business. Previously, he was Head of Global Consultant Relationships at RCM Ltd UK.

Barings has also announced the appointment of Naoki Toyoda to the role of Head of Mutual Fund Sales and Client Service in Japan to support the growth of its Toshin Fund range in the region.

Naoki will focus on increasing sales by developing new distribution relationships and growing business with its existing network of distributions partners. He will also be responsible for ensuring the Japanese mutual fund product range is optimally aligned to client needs and demands. Naoki reports directly to Ryohei Shimazaki, President of Baring Asset Management Japan.

Naoki joins from Aberdeen Asset Management’s Japanese operations where he was Senior Manager of Business Development. During this time he was responsible for the development of a new retail business operation following the merger of Aberdeen Toushikomon Kabushiki Kaisha with Credit Suisse Asset Management. Amongst others, he has also held positions as Director of Mutual Funds at Hartford Life Assurance K.K. and Head of Retail Client Relations at AllianceBernstein Japan.
