Saigon Asset Management adds new deputy chief exec

Saigon Asset Management has announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Kokalari , as Deputy CEO and new Chief Investment Officer in replacement of Mr. Hoang Nguyen who has been assigned new role as Senior Advisor, focusing on the launching of the new Smart Money Fund and capital market products.

Michael Kokalari holds CFA and has over 15 years of experience in running multi billion dollar credit, equity and fixed income derivatives portfolios for Credit Suisse First Boston, Paribas, JP Morgan Chase, Lehman Brothers and WestLB in London, Tokyo and Frankfurt.

Mr. Kokalari is an American and has been in Vietnam for 2 years where he has been a senior level advisor for Vietfund Management, a joint venture between Dragon Capital and Sacombank. His work with VFM primarily involved setting up the Vietnam Active Fund, Vietnam’s first publicly listed equity fund entirely using quantitative techniques.

Mr. Kokalari holds master’s degrees in business, engineering and mathematics from Stanford University and additional graduate level training in Mathematics and Economics at Harvard and the London School of Economics. He is the co-author of the CFA guide to Credit Derivatives, he has founded 2 computer software companies, and he is a part-time lecturer in the Vietnam National University, Department of Mathematics in Ho Chi Minh City.
