9 Mar 2010
J O Hambro Capital Management has announced the appointments of emerging markets fund managers Emery Brewer and Ivo St. Kovachev. Their appointments come as JOHCM prepares to launch the latest addition to its funds stable, the JOHCM Global Emerging Markets Fund.

Emery Brewer, who previously managed the Driehaus Capital Management Emerging Markets Growth Fund, has over 20 years of investment industry experience, of which 15 was specifically in emerging markets.

Mr Brewer commented: “I am delighted to be joining JOHCM and working alongside an exceptional team of managers. Emerging markets present a wealth of opportunities, and JOHCM’s culture allows us the freedom to follow what we see as the best investment decisions”.

Ivo St. Kovachev, previously a fund manager on a long-short equity fund, has over 15 years of investment industry experience. He also spent 10 years working at Driehaus Capital Management, during which time he co-managed the Driehaus International Discovery Fund and supported Emery in the management of the Driehaus Emerging Markets Growth Fund. Ivo was also lead manager of the Driehaus European Opportunities Fund.

Mr St. Kovachev said: “This is a very exciting time to be investing in emerging markets. I am particularly pleased to be working with Emery again, and JOHCM represents an excellent platform for the renewal of our working relationship.”

Commenting on the appointments, Group Chief Executive of JOHCM, Gavin Rochussen said: “Adding significant emerging markets experience has been a goal for J O Hambro Capital Management for some time given the increasing role emerging markets are playing in investors’ asset allocation decisions. After an exhaustive search process, we are delighted to have found a team that fits well with our ethos and culture. Our new fund managers, Emery and Ivo, both have a wealth of experience in the industry and specifically global emerging markets. Emery has a differentiated style compared with other managers in the asset class and takes a bottom up approach with an overlay of country and sector considerations. We are delighted to welcome them to our growing team.”
