Smith & Williamson adds new Investment Strategist

1 Mar 2010
Smith & Williamson Investment Management has announced that Philip Lawlor joins the firm as Investment Strategist. He brings more than 20 years experience in investment, most recently working at Nomura International where he spent six years as their Chief Portfolio Strategist. Prior to that, he was Head of International Equities at Royal London Asset Managers.

On joining Smith & Williamson, Philip said: “I am very much looking forward to being part of Smith & Williamson’s collegiate structure where I will bring my experience in asset allocation and portfolio construction to bear. This is a great opportunity – not only will I be providing background and support for the investment team into economic and political developments and their impact on markets, but also once again participating in the buy-side process.”

David Cobb, head of Smith & Williamson Investment Management, commented: "I am delighted that Philip is joining our team, adding further to the pool of investment talent and demonstrating our ongoing commitment to invest in people to further serve the needs of our clients. This is a pivotal role which comes at a key point in the firm’s development."

The appointment of Philip Lawlor arises because Richard Cragg is retiring. Richard has been at Smith & Williamson since 1998, and global strategist for the last seven years.
