100 Women in Hedge Funds ("100WHF"), a global, practitioner-driven non-profit organization that serves more than 15,000 alternative investment management investors and professionals, announced that, at its annual Hong Kong Gala, it successfully raised over HKD $2 million in gross proceeds to support mentoring programmes operated by The Women’s Foundation of Hong Kong (“TWF”).  TWF is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in Hong Kong through various impactful initiatives.

The 100WHF Hong Kong Gala was held on 16 November at the China Club in Central, with the support of more than 150 leaders from the Hong Kong alternative investment industry. Clara Chan, Head of Direct Investment at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, received 100WHF's 2016 Asian Industry Leadership Award in recognition of her example for future leaders of the industry. The event’s keynote speaker was Shiza Shahid, mentor to Malala Yousafzai and founder and former CEO of the Malala Fund.

"TWF’s mentoring programmes provide an essential resource for Hong Kong’s young people to develop their aspirations, confidence and skills to succeed," said Charlotte Plowman, of CC Strategic Partners and Gala Co-Chair.  Her Co-Chair, Charlotte Stopford Sackville, also of CC Strategic Partners, remarked, "100WHF is delighted to support this impactful Hong Kong organisation this year."

Su-Mei Thompson, CEO of TWF, noted, "We are especially pleased that 100WHF has focused their global philanthropy on the theme of Mentoring this year. We know mentoring is a vital component of helping women, particularly under-privileged and marginalized women and girls, to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. Accordingly, mentoring is a core component of our work at TWF spanning both our community and professional programmes. We are very grateful that tonight’s proceeds will benefit our most exciting and challenging mentoring initiatives.”
