Union Bancaire Privée has announced that it has hired Eli Koen and Mathieu Nègre as co-heads of Emerging European Equities. They join from Fortis Investments. Koen has seventeen years’ experience in the Turkish equity market and Nègre has been managing emerging European funds since 2001.
Stephen Roberts has joined Mercer as regional business leader for investment management in the Asia/Pacific region. Roberts has more than 20 years’ investment experience. Previously he was with Russell Investment Group, as Managing Director, Institutional Investment Services, Australasia.
RBC Wealth Management has announced the appointment of Sarah Macdonald as a Director. Her focus is on entrepreneurial clients who are resident and domiciled in the UK. Macdonald was previously at Barclays Wealth and before this, was at Morgan Stanley. She has worked in the financial services industry for over 10 years. Macdonald specialises in advising High Net Worth clients on asset management and wealth structuring, including portfolio construction, wealth preservation, succession issues and philanthropy.
GLC Limited has announced that Ted Logan has joined the company in a senior management role as Head of Business Development. Ted joins GLC from Aspect Capital Limited where he was Head of North American Sales. Prior to Aspect, Ted worked at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Management division. At GLC, he is responsible for all investor-related activities as well as building strategic relationships with distribution partners worldwide.
Calastone Limited has announced the appointment of Alexander Hofmann as Director of Sales. Hofmann’s focus is on the United Kingdom, Ireland and Scandinavian regions. Hofmann joins Calastone from Data Explorers, where he was Head of Sales for Index Explorer. Prior to joining Data Explorers in 2007, Hofmann was Head of Data Sales at Citywire where he led the team selling quantitative ratings through the United Kingdom and Europe.
FinAnalytica has announced that Jamie Ridyard has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Ridyard was previously CEO at APT, a risk solutions company. Prior to his time in the finance sector, he taught Philosophy of Law at Wroclaw University.
Yvo van der Pol has joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management as an Executive Director in the Benelux Third Party Distribution team – focusing on the Dutch market. Van der Pol has over nine years experience in investment fund sales. He has previously worked for Aegon Asset Management and Robeco. He joins Goldman Sachs from Societe Generale AM, where he was responsible for Business Development in the Netherlands.
State Street Global Advisors has announced the appointment of Marc Reinganum, Ph.D. as head of its Active Developed Market Equities team. Based in Boston, Reinganum is responsible for all aspects of active management within the global developed market equity portfolios. He joins SSgA most recently from Oppenheimer Funds, where he was a senior portfolio manager and director of Quantitative Research.
Citi has hired 13 new professionals as part of the ongoing expansion of its Global Prime Finance business. The recent hires are split between New York and London and are focused in the trading and risk areas. John Nicholson has joined Citi from Barclays Capital as Managing Director within the US trading team. Eric Hughson has joined as a Managing Director within the European trading team from Commerzbank. Merrill Lynch Wealth Management has announced the appointment of Guy Wynter as a Senior Portfolio Manager. Wynter was previously with BlackRock Investment Management. Wynter will manage the portfolios of high and ultra high net worth clients, working closely with the Wealth Structuring and Advisory teams. Wynter has 32 years of experience within the financial sector. At BlackRock Investment Management, he was a Managing Director responsible for charity and pension funds. Prior to this, he worked for Hambros Bank as head of UK Equities covering pension and insurance funds.
State Street Global Markets has announced the appointment of John Herrmann as a Senior Fixed Income Strategist based in Boston. He earned his doctorate in mathematical economics from Cornell University. Herrmann was previously the president of Herrmann Forecasting LLC, a consultancy focused on providing value analysis and forecasting real-time events. Prior to founding Herrmann Forecasting, Herrmann held a number of senior interest rate strategy positions at Wall Street firms including Merrill Lynch, IDEAglobal and Rabobank.
Mercer has announced several executive appointments aimed at expanding in the Asia Pacific region. Simon Eagleton has been appointed Asia Pacific Investment Consulting Regional Business Leader. Eagleton succeeds Tony Cole, who over 14 years has played a key part in building Mercer’s investment consulting position in the Asia Pacific region. Cole is taking on a new role centred on key client consulting, intellectual capital thought leadership and representing Mercer with government and other agencies in the Asia Pacific region. Anthony Lane, Regional Chief Operating Officer for Investment Consulting in Asia Pacific, will assume the role of leader of Mercer’s global manager research boutiques business.
Jonathan Gold has joined RBC Wealth Management as a Director. He has over 15 years experience in client relationship management. Gold was previously a Vice President at Alliance Bernstein Global Wealth Management, where he worked from 2006 to 2009. He specialises in tax-efficient investment planning, philanthropy, cross-border issues and charities. He will advise High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth Individuals, foundations and charities on asset allocation and portfolio investment strategies.
CQS has announced the appointments of Jason Walker and Jessica Hadad. Walker will be a portfolio manager for the CQS ABS Fund, with a focus on European RMBS and global CMBS. Hadad joins as an ABS analyst with a particular focus on due diligence. Walker joined CQS from Henderson Global Investors, London, where he has been an investment manager for the Henderson European ABS Opportunities Fund. Walker has previous experience in various portfolio management and trading roles with the Bank of Scotland, London, TD Securities and Abbey National. Hadad joins from Vertical Capital Investment Advisors, LLC New York, where she was an investment analyst with responsibility for detailed credit analysis and stress testing of MBS and ABS investments. She previously worked at Ernst & Young, LLP New York, in structured Finance Advisory Services and as an analyst in the ABS Transactions Group.
Legg Mason Global Asset Management has announced the appointment of Mark Palmer as Director of Business Development for the UK. Palmer joins from Fidelity International where he was Sales Director responsible for developing and sustaining relationships with major UK life and platform businesses. Palmer will be based within the UK sales team and will report into Justin Eede, Head of European Sales and Client Services
